Goji Berries

Goji berries have been used in traditional Chinese medicine for over 2,000 years. Goji berries were eaten by monks in the Himalayan Mountains thousands of years ago and steeped in hot water to help aid meditation and obtain greater health, vitality, longevity, energy and stamina. These berries are low in calories, fat free, a good source of fiber, and a powerful antioxidant. Goji berries benefits include the ability to help you fight disease, effectively manage your weight and experience better stamina. These berries contain a wide range of phytonutrients, vitamins and trace minerals. That’s why they are called “superfood berries” by many health experts. These berries contain vitamin C, fiber, iron, vitamin A, zinc, and antioxidants. These berries contain all 8 essential amino acids as well. Here are some benefits of taking these berries:

  1. Boosted immune system and flu protection. The vitamins in goji berries can increase and support both. Testing in laboratories shows that goji berries help enhance the effectiveness of flu vaccinations in aged mice. This is important because the flu vaccine doesn’t always provide adequate protection

  2. Potential weight loss. Their high fine content will help you eat healthier.

  3. Antioxidants for eyes and skin. Studies have cited the high level of antioxidants in goji berries, especially zeaxanthin. It’s the zeaxanthin that gives goji berries, saffron, and bell peppers their bright color. Antioxidants protect cells against breaking down when they are exposed to elements such as smoke and radiation. What’s more, foods with healthy levels of antioxidants are often high in fiber and low in unhealthy fats.

  4. Maintain blood sugar. These berries can potentially lower blood sugar, improve sugar tolerance, alleviate insulin resistance, and improve and recover cells that help produce insulin.

  5. Increased testosterone. Goji berries have a long history tied to sexual fertility. One study in rats showed that goji berries significantly increased sperm quantity and movement, shortened erection, capture, and ejaculation response, and improved sexual ability, improved recovery of testosterone levels.
